The National Private Pilots Licence (NPPL)
With an NPPL you will be able to fly British Registered, single engined aircraft (up to 2,000 Kgs), in UK Airspace. You will be able to fly during daylight, in weather conditions which allow you to see the ground at all times.
The medical requirements of an NPPL are less stringent than for a JAR Private Pilots Licence (see below), being the same as for an HGV Lorry Driver.
The minimum flight training requirements for the NPPL is 32 hours. You will need to reach the same standards for general handling and navigation as for the JAR PPL, but will not need to use radio navigation aids.
You will need to take the same 7 multiple choice ground exams and Radio Telephony practical exam as for the NPPL.
At the end of the course, when your instructor is confident that you will pass the practical flight tests, you will have to pass the Skills and Navigational Flight Tests.
